Our Story

Held in partnership with the Ga Traditional Council as part of the annual Homowo Festival, the Accra Inter-City Marathon is a 21-kilometre road race that has grown from 1,500 participants in its maiden year to an expected 3,000+ in 2026 — drawing runners from across Ghana and beyond.

Looking Ahead to 2026

In its 2026 edition, the Accra Inter-City Marathon evolves beyond a road race. In partnership with the Keep Accra Clean Campaign Project and the Greater Accra Regional Ministry, the marathon will serve as a platform to promote good sanitation and healthy living across the capital — with thousands expected to run through Accra’s major roads in support of a cleaner, healthier city.
